Today is International Women’s Day (March 8), a day which empowers women across the world by celebrating their achievements, talents, beauty and strength.
In light of research which showcases that a huge gender divide still exists in the music industry, we’ve decided to celebrate some of the most talented, fierce and sensational female artists who just so happened to release new music today.

Sigrid – Sucker Punch
Leading our list is Norwegian pop queen Sigrid, who released her highly anticipated debut album Sucker Punch today. The album includes the smash hits ‘Strangers’, ‘Don’t Feel Like Crying’, and ‘Don’t Kill My Vibe’. Armed with earworm melodies, punchy lyrics, and an infectious energy, Sigrid has proven that she is every inch a pop superstar with Sucker Punch. Check out our album review here.
Sara Bareilles – ‘No Such Thing’
Sweet songstress Sara Bareilles unveiled ‘No Such Thing’ today, the third cut to be taken from her upcoming album Amidst The Chaos, due for release on April 5. Sara is known for being a multi-talented artist and she once again knocks it out of the park with this striking ballad.
Ava Max – ‘So Am I’
‘So Am I’ is the empowering follow up to Ava Max’s smash hit single ‘Sweet But Psycho’. The song and its accompanying visual emphasises a message of inclusivity and acceptance, with Ava stating that it’s “about loving yourself, being different, being an outcast and not fitting in the format that society wants to put us in – just celebrating what really makes you different”.
Sabrina Carpenter – ‘Pushing 20’
Ahead of her 20th birthday this May, Sabrina Carpenter is back with a new song, aptly titled ‘Pushing 20’. The track sees Sabrina exploring a mature new sound, combining elements of trap with her signature pop style. ‘Pushing 20’ also sees the songstress cementing her independence as she “got not time for others who ain’t on the same wave.”
Daya – ‘Insomnia’
We’re delighted to share that Daya is back with a new single called ‘Insomnia’, and it’s quite possibly her most captivating solo release yet. The electro-pop banger sees Daya missing her loved one: “I keep on hoping to find you, reaching in between the sheets,” she sings before launching into one of the catchiest choruses we’ve heard so far this year.
ROZES, Samantha Gongol, MANDY LEE, CHELSEA LEE – ‘Halfway There (GRL PWR)
CelebMix favourite ROZES has teamed up with her Photo Finish Records besties Samantha Gongol (Marian Hill), Mandy Lee (MisterWives) and Chelsea Lee (SHAED) to release a new version of her empowering single ‘Halfway There’. The original track was used as the anthem for this year’s Women’s March on NYC, and the new version, which honours International Women’s Day, just cements how important it is to uplift and celebrate the women around us.
Dido – Still On My Mind
Singer-songwriter Dido, best known for hits including ‘Thank You’ and ‘White Flag’, has released her new album Still On My Mind. The album is her first in five years and the artist’s striking vocals prove to be just as goosebump-inducing as when we first heard her music.
Twinnie – ‘Better When I’m Drunk’
Perhaps we’re cheating slightly here, as country artist Twinnie released ‘Better When I’m Drunk’ last week, however, she did unveil the accompanying music video today which is definitely worth celebrating. As Twinnie takes us through a cocktail masterclass, the visual perfectly captures the fun and cheeky nature of the song.
Call Me Loop – Drama
Call Me Loop’s five track EP Drama embodies female empowerment and perfectly reflects who she is as an artist. With tracks such as the carefree ‘Silly Boy’ and sassy ‘Body Like Yours’, Call Me Loop has delivered a bop-filled EP complete with relatable lyrics and earworm melodies. Natalie McCool – ‘Woman’s World’
Natalie McCool has unveiled a one-off single in support of International Women’s Day, titled ‘Woman’s World’. The hypnotic offering questions what would happen if all male humans disappeared, and what the world would be like if they never existed in the first place.
Luana Kiara – ‘Trigger’
‘Trigger’ is the debut single from Swedish/Gambian artist Luana Kiara. The track sees Luana addressing life’s daily struggles with plenty of fierceness over a dark RnB beat. The release comes as Luana has been revealed as the face of the New Balance International Women’s Day campaign in Scandinavia.
Shay Esposito – ‘Feel Something’
‘Feel Something’ is the intoxicating new single from Shay Esposito. Inspired by the poisonous need to control and manipulate those around you in a desperate attempt to just feel something, the track showcases a mature sound and lyricsm from Shay.
